The young Moroccan international Shamseddine Talabi led Sunderland to victory in their opening match of the Premier League after defeating West Ham with Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd in the opposition.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, but in the second half, Sunderland surprised the Hammers’ defense with three goals. The scoring began with two headed goals from forward Mayenda, followed by a third goal from defender Ballard’s header in the 73rd minute. The third goal came from a crucial assist by Talabi to his substitute teammate Isidore, who scored with a round shot in the 90+2 minute.
