Settat: Arrest of an Individual with ISIS Ideology Suspected of Planning Terrorist Attacks

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, based on intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested an individual espousing extremist ideology affiliated with ISIS, aged 18, in the Al Ammarna area of Settat, on Sunday morning. This arrest is part of ongoing security operations aimed at mitigating the risks posed by terrorist organizations threatening the safety of the Kingdom and its citizens.

According to a statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, initial inquiries revealed that the suspect had expressed an interest in explosives manufacturing and suicide belts, and is suspected of preparing for terrorist operations that could severely threaten public safety and order. It was noted that he was in contact with a Moroccan field leader from ISIS who encouraged him to carry out a terrorist project in the Kingdom and provided him with references and publications detailing how to manufacture explosives.

The same source added that preliminary investigations also showed that the arrested individual promoted content across media platforms related to terrorist operations conducted by ISIS and others inciting destructive projects.

The suspect has been referred to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, where he is being held under precautionary measures for further questioning conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor responsible for terrorism cases. This aims to uncover all related terrorist projects attributed to him and to clarify any potential connections both within Morocco and abroad, underscoring again the growing risks of terrorism targeting the Kingdom.
