Morocco solidifies its position as a key partner in film production at the Venice Festival

Morocco marked its presence at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival by receiving a special honor for the first time within the “Bridge of Production” program, which celebrates prominent partners in global cinema.

The Moroccan Cinema Center organized a discussion session as part of this program, where producers from Morocco, France, Spain, and Denmark emphasized that the Kingdom has become a strategic partner in co-production, benefiting from accumulated professional expertise, diverse landscapes, and the administrative and financial facilities it offers.

Participants showcased examples of successful co-productions, including Maryam Touzani’s film “Malak” and Maryam Benm’Barek’s “Behind the Palm Trees,” along with other projects currently in progress directed by Hind Benhassi.

In addition, three Moroccan feature films were selected for the “Project Financing Market” in Venice: Sofia Alaoui’s “Tarfaya,” Ayoub Qnire’s “The Black Pearl,” and Cheikh N’daye’s “The Lost Camel,” reinforcing Morocco’s role as a significant player in the international film industry.
