Morocco Hands Over French “Fly” Accomplices to French Justice
Moroccan authorities, on Wednesday, August 13, handed over two accomplices of the Frenchman Mohamed Amara, known as “the Fly,” to the French judiciary. This marks a new development in the investigations related to his armed escape.
The individuals in question are French citizens “Alan G.” (28 years old) and “Albino D.” (38 years old), who were wanted under international arrest warrants issued by Interpol, for their alleged involvement in the armed attack on a prisoner transport truck on May 14, 2024, which resulted in the deaths of two guards and left three others seriously injured, marking one of the bloodiest incidents in modern French prison history.
The handover occurred as part of judicial and security cooperation between Rabat and Paris. A plane carrying the suspects arrived at a French airport on Wednesday afternoon, before they were directly transferred to the capital, Paris, to be presented before an investigating judge at the National Prosecutor’s Office for the fight against organized crime.
With the handover of these suspects, the number of individuals facing prosecution in this case has risen to 41, most of whom are in pretrial detention. This case continues to engage public opinion in France and is considered one of the most significant organized crime cases in Europe in recent years.
