Morocco has announced that the first day of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 AH will fall on Monday, August 25, 2025, while the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday will take place on Friday, 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 AH, corresponding to September 5, 2025.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Islamic Affairs, the moon sighting for Rabi’ al-Awwal was conducted on the evening of Saturday, 29 Safar 1447 AH, which corresponds to August 23, 2025. This was coordinated with the representatives of Islamic affairs in various regions of the kingdom and the units of the Royal Armed Forces responsible for monitoring, where it was confirmed that the moon was not sighted.
As a result, it was decided to complete the month of Safar with thirty days, making Monday the first day of Rabi’ al-Awwal.
The ministry concluded its statement with a prayer that this blessed month and the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday will bring blessings and prosperity to the faithful, King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, his brother Prince Moulay Rachid, and all members of the esteemed royal family, as well as to the Moroccan people and the entire Muslim Ummah.
