Israel announced on Sunday the killing of Abu Obeida, the official spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, in a strike carried out by the army in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated via the platform “X” that the operation was successful, confirming the elimination of “the spokesperson for Hamas terrorism.” Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that the Shin Bet and the military executed the attack on Saturday, expressing hope that Abu Obeida was not alive and emphasizing that final results were not yet clear.
In related military operations, at least 24 people were killed on Sunday in various areas of the Gaza Strip, according to civil defense sources, amid increasing fears among residents of escalating violence in the coming phase.
So far, there has been no official response from Hamas or the Al-Qassam Brigades to the Israeli announcement.
