Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security, signed a new list of 24 appointments to leadership positions within the central and regional National Security services on Wednesday, August 6. This step reflects a commitment to merit-based selection and a strong intention to enhance the presence of youth and women in decision-making roles within the security sector.
The new appointments involve the promotion of experienced security personnel to decentralized leadership positions, including the appointment of a Deputy Regional Security Officer in Beni Mellal, a Deputy Head of Regional Security in Taza, and a provisional head of the Regional Security Directorate in Khouribga. The list also places trust in women to take on critical roles, including the presidency of the IT management department for police stations, known as “GESTARR,” under the Public Security Directorate, as well as the appointment of a Head of the Regional Social Affairs Department at the Regional Security in El Jadida.
In preparation for major sporting events such as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, specialized security personnel have been appointed to lead the sporting security teams in the regions of Fez and Tangier.
The new appointments extend to police services in various cities, including Ouarzazate, Marrakech, Guelmim, Fez, Tangier, Errachidia, Meknes, Qariat Ba Mohammed, Agadir, Salé, and Casablanca, where security personnel have been assigned new responsibilities in managing public security sectors, criminal investigations, intelligence, and social work.
The General Directorate emphasized that these appointments are part of an institutional dynamic aimed at modernizing working methods and improving the efficiency of human resources by assigning responsibilities to highly qualified professionals capable of implementing security enhancement strategies and ensuring the safety of citizens.
