Decrease in Fishery Landings in Dakhla by 21%
The National Fisheries Office reported that the quantities landed from coastal and traditional fishing at Dakhla port reached 57,320 tons during the first seven months of 2025, reflecting a 21% decrease compared to the same period last year.
In its latest report on coastal and traditional fishing statistics, the office noted that the commercial value of these landings dropped by 5% to over 523.67 million dirhams, down from more than 553.26 million dirhams a year ago.
By species, the volume of landings for pelagic fish decreased by 34% to 43,153 tons, valued at approximately 282.99 million dirhams (a decline of 22%).
Conversely, the quantity of white fish caught at this Mediterranean port grew by 94% during the first seven months of 2025, reaching 14,066 tons, with a value nearing 222.37 million dirhams (an increase of 38%).
Regarding shellfish, landings increased from 5 tons to 12 tons (an increase of 125%), generating revenues of 1.25 million dirhams (up 197%). However, crustacean landings declined by 49% to 88 tons, valued at about 17.07 million dirhams (up 35%).
On a national level, the quantities landed from coastal and traditional fishing directed to the market reached 523,765 tons by the end of July 2025, marking a 16% decrease compared to the same period last year.
In terms of value, these landings have fallen by 3% to approximately 6.14 billion dirhams, down from over 6.30 billion dirhams a year earlier.
