Hicham Ait Mena Reveals Behind-the-Scenes of Wydad’s Transfer Market and Jbiran’s Situation… and Opens Up About the Financial Status

In striking statements to Asabah newspaper, Hicham Ait Mena, president of Wydad Athletic Club, unveiled the latest developments regarding former captain Yahya Jbiran, affirming that the club has fulfilled all its commitments, but the player has not adhered to the final agreement reached after a series of meetings.

Regarding the transfer market, Ait Mena clarified that Wydad acted early, starting in June before the Club World Cup, acquiring Aziz Kay for $500,000, Brazilian Guillermo Ferreira for $400,000, Bakasso for €250,000, and Walid Sabbar from Nahdat Zemamra, in addition to Dutch defender Bart Mertz for free. As for the most controversial deal involving Omar Al-Soma, the president confirmed that its cost did not exceed $30,000, and the player has yet to receive it due to not sending his bank account number.

In terms of departures, Jamal Harkas has transferred to the Saudi league, while offers for Botouil and Moutarji are still under evaluation.

On the financial front, Ait Mena emphasized that Wydad management is working to prevent debts and disputes, safeguarding the club’s value in front of partners and investors. He noted that a specialized bank is currently conducting a comprehensive assessment of the team’s assets before opening the company’s capital, a decision that will be made in consultation with the members.

The Wydad president also responded to accusations against the company organizing the reception event for the FIFA Club World Cup trophy, confirming that all dues have been fully paid and that any dispute will be settled in court, adding: “I defend Wydad’s funds openly, and I will not squander the team’s budget on what I do not believe in.”

In conclusion, Ait Mena announced that the club is still looking for three new signings in positions specified by the coach before the transfer window closes.
