A Moroccan contingent participated in the celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of Côte d’Ivoire’s independence, which took place on Thursday, August 7, in the city of Bouaké. The official military parade was attended by units from the Ivorian armed forces.

This Moroccan participation comes as a result of high royal instructions from King Mohammed VI, the Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, in response to an official invitation extended to the Kingdom by the Ivorian authorities.

The Moroccan contingent, belonging to the 1st Parachute Infantry Regiment, aligned alongside the participating forces in a military display that paraded through the streets of the city in celebration of Independence Day. This presence reflects the deep bilateral relations between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire and strengthens the existing cooperation between the military institutions of the two countries.

The symbolic significance of this representation extends beyond the military aspect; it also clearly indicates Morocco’s commitment to strengthening ties with its African sister nations and its continued solidarity regarding the continent’s issues, whether in challenging times or during festive moments.

This Moroccan attendance holds particular importance given the current political and diplomatic context, which sees a growing collaboration between Rabat and Abidjan. The Kingdom is keen to establish quality partnerships across multiple fields, including the military, contributing to the stability and security of the African continent.
