Cameroonian Referee to Officiate CHAN Final Between Morocco and Madagascar in Nairobi
Football fans across Africa will turn their attention on Saturday, August 30, 2025, to the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, where the African Nations Championship final will take place between the Moroccan team and their Malagasy counterparts, starting at 5:30 PM GMT.
The Confederation of African Football has appointed 29-year-old Cameroonian referee Abdoul Mefiri to officiate this crucial match. Mefiri is considered one of the rising talents in the refereeing landscape, having previously officiated the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Egypt in Suez, and was also selected by FIFA to officiate at the upcoming U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
In a statement to the official CAF website, Mefiri expressed that leading the final represents “a great honor and a source of pride,” adding that pressure will be present in such matches, but he views the assignment as “a testament to the trust” placed in him and his officiating team.
