Increase in Aviation and Phosphate Exports Boosts Morocco’s Trade in 2025

A notable growth in Morocco’s aviation exports was recorded during the first five months of 2025, surpassing 11.8 billion dirhams, marking an increase of 10.5% compared to the same period in 2024, according to a report by the Foreign Exchange Office in its monthly bulletin on external trade.

This positive performance is attributed to the rise in sales from the assembly category, which reached 7.65 billion dirhams, an increase of 10.3%. Additionally, sales of the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) amounted to 4.13 billion dirhams, reflecting an 11.3% rise.

In related news, the phosphate sector and its derivatives continued to shine, recording a growth of 18.1% with a total value nearing 36.75 billion dirhams. This increase was driven by a marked rise in phosphate exports by 47.7% (3.88 billion dirhams), along with phosphoric acid exports growing by 18.1% (6.18 billion dirhams), and natural and chemical fertilizers by 14.8% (26.69 billion dirhams).

Other mined mineral exports also saw a rise of 3.2%, reaching 2.06 billion dirhams, while exports from other industrial sectors grew by 13.4%, amounting to 13.06 billion dirhams.

Conversely, some industrial sectors experienced declines, with automotive exports dropping by 4% to 64.69 billion dirhams, and electrical and electronics exports falling by 7.5% to 7.18 billion dirhams.

These figures reflect the ongoing dynamism of certain national export sectors, along with the challenges faced by others amid fluctuations in international markets and changing external demand.
