The public prosecutor in Casablanca has denied allegations regarding the theft of organs from a young man and confirmed the adherence to the law.
The Attorney General at the Casablanca Appeals Court refuted claims made in a viral video featuring a woman who alleged that her deceased son’s organs were stolen following a traffic accident on September 8, 2021.
In an official statement, the Attorney General clarified that a judicial investigation had been initiated, overseen by the National Judicial Police Brigade in Casablanca. The investigation reaffirmed that the organ donation process adhered to Law No. 16.98 concerning the donation of human organs and tissues, with full compliance to legal and regulatory procedures.
The same source confirmed that the removal of the kidneys and corneas occurred after obtaining clear and written consent from the deceased’s mother, complete with her signature and national ID number. Additionally, the procedure was carried out only after the cause of death was certified by a specialized medical committee, which prepared a report confirming the diagnosis of brain death based on clinical examinations and brain imaging studies.
The announcement highlighted that the donated organs were transplanted to other patients officially registered in the hospital’s lists, with all data documented in the official records of the healthcare facility.
The public prosecutor emphasized that the claims made in the circulated video were inconsistent with the established facts in official reports and medical documents.
