The political bureau of the National Rally of Independents held its regular meeting on Thursday evening, July 24, 2025, in Rabat, chaired by Aziz Akhannouch. The meeting focused on reviewing updates on national and international affairs, evaluating the government’s performance, and discussing the internal organizational situation of the party.
At the beginning of the meeting, the political bureau expressed its congratulations to King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Throne Day, praising the developmental progress witnessed in the kingdom under his leadership, as well as the profound reforms that have affected various sectors over the past two decades.
The meeting reaffirmed admiration for the royal approach in managing international relations, especially regarding the Sahara issue, emphasizing that the increasing recognitions of the autonomy initiative reinforce Morocco’s diplomatic position and affirm its sovereignty over its southern regions.
On the international front, the political bureau condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, referencing the King’s positions as the head of the Al-Quds Committee, which call for urgent international action to ensure the protection of civilians and provide them with humanitarian assistance, while insisting on a two-state solution in line with international legitimacy.
Domestically, the party praised the resilience of the national economy despite global fluctuations, citing positive indicators, notably:
– Economic growth of 4.8% in the first quarter of 2025
– A decrease in the inflation rate to below 1%
– The Gross Domestic Product exceeding $150 billion for the first time
– A reduction in public debt to 67.7%
– A decrease in the budget deficit to 3.5%
The political bureau affirmed that these figures reflect the effectiveness of government policies and its commitment to strengthening economic balances while continuing to implement social state programs.
The party simultaneously called for making the system of national values a core focus in the development process, considering it a guarantee for societal balances, and stressed the need to address the cultural and value challenges facing society.
Regarding the relationship between the executive and legislative branches, the political bureau praised the government’s responsiveness to parliamentary oversight and proposal initiatives, commending the performance of the party’s parliamentary teams and the rise in the number of parliamentary questions, which reflects public expectations from the government’s work.
The meeting also addressed the Parliament’s approval of significant laws, including the criminal and civil procedure codes and the law related to alternative penalties, expected to come into effect next August, considering these texts as a reflection of the state’s direction toward consolidating justice and enhancing human rights.
Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of respecting security institutions and rejecting any devaluation or targeting they might face, recalling their pivotal role in maintaining security, stability, and achieving development.
Organizationally, the political bureau praised the dynamism initiated by the “Path of Achievements” initiative, which has so far covered four regions, affirming the party’s commitment to direct communication with citizens and listening to them, alongside commending the roles of the party’s youth and other supporting organizations in guidance and accompaniment.
The party confirmed its readiness to continue engaging with societal and political challenges by building a strong and rooted party organization that reflects its vision for supporting reforms and enhancing the robustness of the national political model.
