Minister of Culture Visits Zagora and Moulay Ali Cherif, Launching New Development Projects

Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, will arrive in Zagora and the community of Moulay Ali Cherif on Friday, July 11, 2025, as part of an official visit dedicated to launching new cultural and developmental projects. These initiatives will encompass several historical sites and local communities across the two provinces.

The visit will begin in the city of Zagora, where the minister will oversee the presentation of a project for the construction of a music institute and cultural centers in the Zagora region at 8:45 AM. Additionally, he will sign four agreements related to building a center for youth and childhood, as well as three youth centers in various municipalities.

At 10 AM, the minister will undertake a field visit to the petroglyph site at Foum Chnaa, one of the notable archaeological landmarks in the region, as part of the ministry’s efforts to preserve intangible heritage and enhance local cultural legacies.

The visit will continue in the afternoon in the municipality of Moulay Ali Cherif, where the minister will chair a scientific symposium on the rehabilitation project for the historic city of Sijilmassa, taking place at the cultural center in Rissani at 2 PM.

At 2:45 PM, Bensaid will inaugurate the restoration and enhancement project for the historical site of Sijilmassa, aiming to restore the significance of one of the most important cultural landmarks in the southeastern region of the kingdom.

The visit will conclude at 4:30 PM in the rural community of Jorf, part of the Errachidia province, where a project for building a socio-cultural center will be presented, in line with the ministry’s vision to strengthen cultural infrastructure in the area.
