Five Israeli soldiers killed in ambush north of Gaza

Israeli Army announced this morning, Tuesday, the death of five of its soldiers during a nighttime operation in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza Strip. Fourteen others were injured with varying degrees of severity, marking this incident as one of the largest losses the military has faced in recent months.

According to Israeli media, the army reported that the operation began Saturday evening, involving the Northern Brigade and Reserve Brigade 646, aimed at clearing an area in Beit Hanoun. On Monday night, a unit from the Nitzach Yehuda Battalion was ambushed while advancing on foot in the area, where at least two explosive devices detonated, followed by gunfire from various locations.

The names and ranks of the deceased soldiers, as released by the Israeli Army, are as follows: First Sergeant Meir Shimon Ammar, First Sergeant Moshe Nassim Frish, First Sergeant Naum Aharon Masgadiyan, First Sergeant Moshe Shmuel Noll, and Reserve Sergeant Benjamin Asulin. Fourteen other soldiers were injured in the incident, including two in critical condition, six in moderate condition, and six with minor injuries, and the injured were evacuated to hospitals.

This attack was confirmed by the Al-Qassam Brigades on Telegram, where the military spokesperson for the Brigades tweeted sequentially that “the Operation in Beit Hanoun is an additional blow dealt by our valiant fighters to the prestige of the occupation army.”

He added in another post, “The steadfastness of our people and the valor of our brave resistance fighters are solely what create equations and outline the features of the coming stage, and the most foolish decision Netanyahu could make would be to keep his forces inside the sector.”
