The Passing of Influencer Salma Raises Concerns Over Cyberbullying and Calls for Mental Health Protection
The Moroccan content creator known on TikTok, Salma, has passed away after a long struggle with serious health complications following a weight loss surgery she underwent due to bullying and psychological pressure.
According to close sources, Salma did not choose to have the surgery for cosmetic reasons or a desire for fame; rather, she was a victim of continuous offensive comments and bullying regarding her appearance and weight from some social media users. These harsh psychological pressures drove her to make the decision to undergo the surgery in hopes of alleviating the severity of the daily criticisms she faced.
Salma, who enjoyed a wide following for her family and human-interest content alongside her husband, was not spared from waves of ridicule that disregarded her feelings or personal circumstances. Although the surgical procedure initially appeared successful, her health gradually deteriorated, leading to a critical state that ultimately resulted in her death, leaving behind a young child who will grow up without a mother.
Salma’s death has left a profound shock among her followers and has sparked a serious discussion about the impacts of cyberbullying, particularly on public figures and influencers, who are often perceived as “immune” to hurtful words, despite the reality being quite the opposite.
