A Canadian court on Wednesday sentenced Hicham Geraldo to 30 days in jail and fined him 10,000 Canadian dollars after finding him guilty of contempt of court during hearings of an ongoing case against him.

According to the court’s ruling, Geraldo is required to report to Canadian law enforcement by August 6, where he will be taken to a correctional facility to serve his sentence. Failure to comply will result in a warrant for his arrest issued by a bailiff.

The court also ordered Geraldo to appear before it again within 14 days of his detention to clarify his compliance with previous judicial orders, with the option for the court to review his case at any point during his sentence, potentially allowing for an early release.

In a separate ruling, the court mandated Geraldo to complete 150 hours of community service under the supervision of the Montreal probation office, requiring him to report to the relevant office before August 1 to receive necessary instructions.

This sentence comes amid a series of legal proceedings concerning Geraldo in Canadian courts, where he is suspected of involvement in extortion and threats against citizens and residents, according to Canadian legal sources.

It is worth noting that Geraldo has previously been subjected to a final court ruling in Morocco after being prosecuted in a terrorism case related to membership in an extortion network and the dissemination of false information.
