SOS Children’s Villages Morocco Ignites Entrepreneurship Among Youth Without Family Support
SOS Children’s Villages Morocco has launched an unprecedented initiative to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship among youth without family support by organizing a hackathon under the theme “Entrepreneurship by Youth, for Youth.” This event took place on July 16 at the SOS Children’s Village in Dar Bouazza.
This initiative falls within the organization’s vision to support the social and economic integration of a segment of youth that often faces compounded challenges in building their future. The hackathon serves as a collaborative platform that combines intensive practical training with hands-on experience to transform ideas into viable projects.
The call for applications received a significant response, with the organization receiving over 100 submissions, from which 20 young men and women were selected based on specific criteria, representing the beneficiaries of the association’s programs.
Participants will undergo a comprehensive training program spanning 60 hours aimed at enhancing their entrepreneurial skills, developing personal and leadership competencies, and motivating their initiative-taking spirit.
In this context, Samia Mouasti, the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Morocco, stated: “Through this initiative, we believe that every young man and woman, even in the absence of family support, is capable of charting their path to success. Entrepreneurship represents a powerful lever for discovering self-potential and building an independent professional future based on self-reliance.”
The hackathon day will culminate with participants presenting their projects to a judging panel consisting of experts from various fields, leading to the selection of three winning projects. They will receive financial support of 50,000, 30,000, and 20,000 dirhams, respectively, in addition to professional guidance to help them develop and implement their projects.
Participants will also have the opportunity to network directly with business incubators, economic partners, and supporting institutions, opening promising avenues for funding and expansion.
This initiative is supported by several active partners, reflecting the organization’s continuous commitment to empowering youth and providing tangible opportunities for building their futures with independence and dignity.
