Reno’s Tangier factory celebrated the production of the 2,000th electric vehicle of the “Mobilize DUO” model today, Friday. This marks the first fully manufactured four-wheeled electric vehicle in Morocco, with the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, alongside senior officials from the Renault Group and its industrial and economic partners.
This achievement signifies a new phase in the development of the Moroccan industrial platform of the Renault Group, following the manufacturing of the first Moroccan hybrid vehicle, the Dacia Jogger, in 2024. It enhances the integration of electrification technologies in Tangier, which is regarded as a leader in low-carbon industry on the continent.
The Mobilize DUO was manufactured at the Tangier factory with an investment in a new assembly line with an expandable capacity of up to 17,000 units annually, incorporating advanced technologies suitable for fully electric vehicles. This project has contributed to the integration of new suppliers specializing in electric vehicle components, further supporting the development of the local industrial ecosystem.
The Minister of Industry and Trade praised this achievement, emphasizing that the vehicle serves as clear evidence of Morocco’s industrial advancement and its determination to keep pace with global innovation. The CEO of Mobilize highlighted that the car reflects the group’s vision of providing smart and secure urban electric solutions.
The General Director of Renault Morocco stated that this project showcases the renewed trust of the group in the capabilities of Moroccan workers, noting that the car was entirely manufactured by trained local hands, benefiting from over 8,000 hours of training in areas related to electric vehicles.
The Mobilize DUO represents a new generation of urban vehicles, boasting a modern design, scissors-style doors, and a locally developed advanced internal communication system. It features an innovative airbag for this category, is designed with over 40% recycled materials, and is 95% recyclable, aligning with Renault’s commitment to sustainability and reducing emissions by 66% compared to its counterparts.
Initially, the vehicle will be directed to European markets, starting with France, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands, followed by Germany, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, before being marketed in Morocco during the last quarter of 2025.
