African funding boosts inclusive agriculture for women and youth in Morocco
The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank has approved new funding amounting to 100 million euros for Morocco, aimed at implementing a program to support inclusive solidarity agriculture directed at women and youth.
This funding comes as part of efforts to enhance sustainable development in rural areas by creating new economic opportunities, improving food security, and addressing challenges related to climate change.
The program aims to support entrepreneurship among women and youth by providing appropriate financing and incentive mechanisms, as well as enhancing technical and financial support, developing agricultural infrastructure, integrating women into local value chains, and improving skills and productivity in rural areas.
The bank confirmed that the project will help empower entrepreneurial women to access fields such as agriculture, agro-industries, and digital services, and will support the implementation of the national employment roadmap by promoting productive rural initiatives. Ashraf Tarsim, Director of the African Development Bank’s office in Morocco, emphasized that ambitious women are a priority in this program, highlighting the importance of accompanying them in building a modern and inclusive agriculture that invests in their innovative capacities.
This program aligns with national public policy priorities, particularly the Green Generation Strategy 2020-2030, the national solidarity agriculture program, and the national entrepreneurship program for youth, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to integrating vulnerable groups into the economic and developmental dynamic.
The African Development Bank continues its role as a strategic partner for Morocco for over fifty years, having contributed funding exceeding 15 billion euros that covers more than 150 projects in vital sectors including transport, water, energy, agriculture, social protection, governance, and finance.
