Morocco is preparing to manufacture military vehicles of Indian origin in Berrechid in partnership with Tata.
According to “La Rethon,” Tata Advanced Systems Maroc has submitted an official request to local authorities to initiate an environmental impact assessment study, paving the way for a consultation phase with residents between July 28 and August 16.
The agreement stipulates the production of vehicles with a local integration rate of 35% in the initial phase, gradually increasing to 50%, reflecting both parties’ desire to transfer technology and enhance national industrial capabilities in the defense sector. The project is expected to be completed within 36 months, with a new factory to be built on a designated site, providing approximately 90 direct jobs and 250 indirect jobs, thereby boosting the region’s economic and industrial dynamism.
This project marks a significant step towards diversifying Morocco’s defense partnerships and localizing military manufacturing amid rapidly evolving regional and international strategic changes.
