Morocco Launches Digitalization of Shipping Manifest to Enhance Transportation and Smart Logistics

Morocco has taken a significant step towards modernizing its logistics system by signing an agreement to digitalize the “shipping manifest.” The event was chaired by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdel Samad Guij, in the presence of Omar Hajira, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade.

This agreement, signed between the ministry and PortNet, is part of efforts to digitize critical documents related to the transport of goods to and from ports and logistics areas. Whereas shipping manifests were previously filled out manually, professionals can now access them electronically through the PortNet portal, which will reduce processing time, minimize errors, and enhance transparency.

The signing ceremony saw widespread participation from various institutions and active bodies, including the National Ports Agency, the Digital Development Agency, the Moroccan Logistics Development Agency, the National Transport and Logistics Company, as well as representatives from the road transport sector at the ports.

The project aims to simplify administrative procedures related to the transport of goods, improve working conditions for professionals, and increase the competitiveness of the Moroccan logistics sector, fully aligning with the national digital transformation strategy.

Digitalization will also enable secure and quick access to the shipping manifest, the essential document for tracking goods and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

This project solidifies a technical and strategic partnership between the Ministry of Transport and PortNet, with both parties committing to provide all necessary resources to ensure the success of this reform step, in line with royal directives aimed at simplifying foreign trade procedures and serving economic actors.
