The Court of Auditors of Morocco and the National Audit Office of Gambia have strengthened their collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding on Monday, July 14, in Rabat. The agreement aims to develop mechanisms for overseeing public financial management and sharing expertise in auditing.

The memorandum was signed by the President of the Court of Auditors, Zineb El Adaoui, and Gambia’s Auditor General, Modou Sise, and it seeks to establish a framework for institutional cooperation to enhance professional capacities and unify auditing methodologies between the two institutions.

The agreement outlines the organization of joint activities such as seminars, conferences, roundtables, and both in-person and online training programs, in addition to exchanging reference documents, best practices, and professional standards applied in the field of public sector auditing.

During the signing ceremony, Zineb El Adaoui emphasized that this cooperation reflects shared values and reinforces the vital role played by supreme audit institutions in promoting good governance principles. She reiterated Morocco’s commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation and transparency in public financial management.

For his part, Modou Sise expressed the importance of this partnership for Gambia, highlighting his country’s desire to benefit from Morocco’s experience, particularly in the areas of digitization and performance management. He also praised Morocco for recently hosting a meeting of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) and for establishing its General Secretariat in Rabat.
