Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, emphasized that developing human capital is Morocco’s central challenge in preparing to host the 2030 World Cup, alongside the sporting and logistical challenges associated with the event.

Bensaid, speaking during the eighth edition of the “Morocco Today” forum held in Rabat, asserted that the real challenge extends beyond the global event to empowering Moroccans and making them the focus of any lasting economic transformation. He warned against repeating the mistakes of countries that have previously hosted the World Cup by neglecting to think beyond 2030.

The minister clarified that Morocco has been working for years on developing human capital according to a vision led by King Mohammed VI, which is based on placing citizens at the heart of public policies and major choices.

He pointed out that the government, including the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, considers the development of cultural industries as a crucial means to enhance human capacities, especially among youth. He urged young people to take advantage of the open opportunities, particularly those created by the preparations for the World Cup, to invest in culture and transform it into a productive economic sector.

Bensaid noted that various professions and services will thrive as part of the economic dynamics accompanying the World Cup’s organization, considering that cultural industries, such as video games, represent a promising opportunity, with this industry’s market value reaching $300 billion globally.

He confirmed that achieving this ambition requires investing in national capital rather than relying solely on foreign investments, to leverage the economic and cultural momentum linked to the 2030 World Cup and solidify Morocco’s position as an economic and cultural force in the region.
