Minister Fatah: Government Launches New Consultations for Pension System Reform with Social Partners
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fatah, confirmed that various concerned partners are increasingly convinced of the need to find a solution to the pension issue within a timeframe that ensures a clear and reassuring vision for this social project.
This statement came following a press briefing after the National Committee for Pension File Monitoring, chaired by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, which focused on discussing the current situation of pension systems and determining future working mechanisms.
The minister emphasized that this initiative is of significant societal importance and directly affects the circumstances of employees and retirees, necessitating collective and responsible involvement from all stakeholders. She highlighted that the meeting was conducted in a positive atmosphere, during which all participants showed substantial awareness of the issue’s importance and readiness for mutual cooperation to reach consensus-based solutions.
The meeting resulted in an agreement to launch a series of technical meetings starting from next September, during which various proposed visions will be discussed, and the data available from the relevant funds will be shared, with the aim of achieving an accurate and unified diagnosis of the current state of the system. The minister confirmed that this pathway aims to protect the rights of participants and ensure the financial sustainability of pension systems within a framework of collective agreement that takes into account social and economic balances.
