Joe Wilson: The King Mohammed VI’s Outstretched Hand Policy Strengthens Morocco’s Leadership in the Region

American Congressman Joe Wilson, head of the Morocco Support Group in Congress, praised Morocco’s regional role, noting its openness to its surroundings and its policy of extending a hand.

Wilson emphasized that the recent speech by King Mohammed VI, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of his accession to the throne, reaffirmed this steadfast direction, indicating that the king’s commitment to this approach reflects an integrated strategic vision.

The American official added that the openness policy led by the Moroccan monarch enhances the kingdom’s status as a key player in the region and paves the way for profitable partnerships with international powers, particularly the United States.

In this context, Wilson highlighted the importance of the free trade agreement signed between Rabat and Washington, which has been in effect for over 20 years, considering it a solid foundation for strengthening investments and expanding bilateral economic cooperation.

The congressman reiterated that Morocco’s commitment under the king’s leadership to achieving economic growth cements the kingdom as an emerging developmental hub in North Africa, benefiting its international partners.
