Intense English and European Competition for Bilal El Khannous Following Leicester City’s Relegation

Due to the impressive performance of Moroccan international Bilal El Khannous, the competition among several European clubs, particularly English ones, has intensified in the race for his signature during the current summer transfer window. This interest comes after a standout individual season for the player, despite his club Leicester City being relegated to the Championship.

According to TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspur has expressed a strong desire to sign El Khannous this summer, joining a long list of interested parties, including Newcastle United, which is said to be preparing an official offer for him.

The same source notes that Tottenham’s management is keen to finalize the deal soon, aiming to bolster their midfield with a talented player ahead of their anticipated return to the Champions League in the 2025-2026 season.

El Khannous joined Leicester City last August from Belgian club Genk, in a deal worth £21 million. Despite his notable performances, he was unable to save the “Foxes” from relegation.

It is likely that El Khannous will depart this summer, given the wide interest from several clubs both inside and outside England, including Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Aston Villa, as well as Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, Monaco, Atalanta, and Valencia.

It is worth mentioning that Bilal El Khannous has a contract with Leicester City until the summer of 2028. He has emerged as one of the key players for the Moroccan national team and was part of the Olympic team that won the Africa U-23 Cup, recently clinching a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
