Greece Halts Asylum Applications from Africans

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Wednesday that Greece will suspend all asylum hearings for migrants arriving by boat from North Africa for three months, amid a surge in numbers from Libya.

Speaking before Parliament, Mitsotakis stated that the country is in the process of “closing the route to Greece… and any migrant who enters the country illegally will be stopped and detained.”
