Ghazlan Al-Shabek Named in the Best XI of the Group Stage at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations
The Confederation of African Football announced today that Ghazlan Al-Shabek, the captain of the Moroccan national team, has been included in the Best XI of the group stage of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco. Several standout players from the participating teams shone during the event.
Al-Shabek secured her spot in this ideal lineup thanks to her remarkable performances during the group stage, leading the Atlas Lionesses to the quarter-finals after scoring four goals, including a hat-trick against the Democratic Republic of Congo and a decisive goal against Zambia, making her one of the tournament’s stars thus far.
The squad also features prominent names from various national teams, including Chloe Nagaï from Algeria, Ashley Plumptre and Rasheeda Ajibade from Nigeria, as well as three players from South Africa: Bambani Mbanje, Refiloe Jane, and Vicky Makhama, along with Barbara Banda, Lushomo Mweemba, and Rachel Kundananji from Zambia, and Nguyenar Ndiaye from Senegal.
This selection reflects the strong presence of African players in the tournament and underscores the rising profile of women’s football in Morocco on the continental stage, with hopes of further success in the upcoming rounds.
