Hakim Doumo, the president of the Kénitra club, made strong statements in response to the criticisms directed at him, asserting that he is ready to leave immediately after achieving promotion to the top division, emphasizing that he has sacrificed everything to restore “KAC” to its rightful place.
In a recent interview with an online newspaper, Doumo stated that he took charge of the club during a critical period when the team’s debts exceeded 125 million dirhams. He noted that no one was willing to take on the responsibility at that time, pointing out that the team was sinking in the amateur division and threatened with extinction.
He added, “From day one, I set a clear goal: to pull KAC out of the crisis. I reached out to all parties, spent my own money, and sold my assets just to help the team, because I am from Kénitra and care deeply for this institution.”
Doumo continued: “We achieved promotion in one year, and in the second season we paid off a significant portion of the debts and improved the infrastructure. However, simply failing to achieve promotion to the top division opened the door to criticism, and a systematic campaign against us began, the orchestrator of which I don’t know.”
He did not hide his surprise at complaints from some fans regarding ticket prices, saying, “The ticket price increased by only 10 dirhams between 1980 and 2025. Everything else has doubled in Morocco; why is it that only the ticket price is controversial? Those who love the team will come no matter the circumstances.”
Regarding the fans, Doumo stated that the “Halala Boys” were the only group that supported the current board during all tough phases, adding, “The others who speak today, we do not know them… We haven’t seen them during crises.”
He pointed out that the attacks he is facing today resemble those he experienced in previous years, especially between 2008 and 2010. He confirmed that he remains faithful to his promise: “If we do not achieve promotion, I will leave, and if we do achieve promotion, I will also leave. I will leave the team in the top division without any debts, just as I did before.”
Doumo concluded his remarks by affirming that all players and staff have received their entitlements, and that the current board is the first in the history of the club to leave no debts behind.
