Dismantling a Network for Promoting Hallucinogenic Pills and Cocaine in Marrakech, Seizing Over 37,000 Drugs
On Monday, July 14th, officers from the Marrakech Security Directorate arrested three individuals suspected of being involved in a case related to drug possession and trafficking. This was part of a high-profile operation coordinated closely with the General Directorate of National Territory Surveillance.
The first suspect was apprehended at a traffic control point at the entrance to Marrakech while arriving in a light vehicle coming from one of the northern cities. A detailed search revealed 36,000 hallucinogenic pills of the “Rivotril” variety, which were expertly concealed inside the vehicle.
As part of ongoing investigations, security services managed to arrest two additional individuals in the “Bouchareb-Tarka” area, who were believed to be preparing to receive this quantity for distribution within the city. Further searches resulted in the seizure of an additional 1,150 drug pills and a quantity of cocaine.
All detainees have been subjected to judicial inquiries under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to uncover any remaining potential collaborators in this criminal activity and to identify the distribution and financing pathways associated with this network.
This operation is part of ongoing security efforts to combat the phenomenon of psychoactive substance trafficking, which poses a real threat to public health and community safety.
