Casablanca: Awarding the Reconstruction Project of Bab Marrakech Market to SGTM at a Cost of 644 Million Dirhams

The rehabilitation project of the famous Bab Marrakech Market, located in the heart of the old city of Casablanca, has reached a critical stage, as the execution has officially been awarded to the SGTM group (General Works Company of Morocco) at a cost nearing 644 million dirhams.

This major project, overseen by the local development company “Casablanca Development,” aims to fully reconstruct the market over an area of approximately 4 hectares, while preserving the cultural identity of the site and providing modern infrastructure for traders and residents that complies with current health and security standards.

Construction is expected to commence soon, following a multi-phase timeline. Upon completion, the new market will accommodate over 1,000 traders and feature service areas, enhancing the commercial appeal of the old city of Casablanca.

This project is part of a broader program for the rehabilitation of the old city, managed by local authorities, aiming to revitalize this symbolic neighborhood while maintaining its distinctive architectural and social character.
