Police in the regional security division of Berkane arrested a 35-year-old man on Tuesday morning, July 1, who is the subject of several national search warrants related to his involvement in drug trafficking and psychotropic substances.
The operation took place inside an apartment on the third floor of a residential building, where the suspect was apprehended without resistance after voluntarily surrendering. According to his initial statement, a woman was with him and attempted to escape through the apartment window, resulting in an accidental fall.
Field investigations conducted by the police led to the discovery of the woman in the rear courtyard of the building, where she was found in critical health condition. She was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away shortly after, according to medical staff.
The judicial police have initiated an investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to determine the circumstances and details of this incident, as well as to examine the nature of the relationship between the deceased and the suspect. The investigation also aims to address the criminal activities attributed to him, which are the subject of search warrants issued by security services in Zaiou and Berkane concerning the promotion of hard drugs.
