Arrest of a French National of Algerian Descent in Marrakech Wanted Internationally for Drug Trafficking
On Tuesday, July 8, police officers from the Marrakech Security Directorate arrested a 44-year-old French citizen of Algerian descent, who is subject to an international arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities.
The arrest occurred after a check against the International Criminal Police Organization’s (Interpol) database revealed that he was wanted internationally under a Red Notice for suspected involvement in a criminal network operating in international drug trafficking.
According to preliminary investigation information, the foreign national is wanted by the French judiciary for his alleged involvement in organizing international drug trafficking operations aimed at southern France between 2020 and 2021.
The arrested individual was subjected to legal procedures as part of extradition protocols and was referred to the competent public prosecutor’s office, while the French authorities were notified of the arrest.
This action is part of international security cooperation efforts and aligns with the Moroccan security services’ commitment to pursuing individuals wanted internationally for transnational crime.
