Akhannouch inaugurates the expansion of the “Stellantis” factory in Kenitra as part of a major industrial investment

The Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch, oversaw the inauguration of the expansion of the “Stellantis” Group factory in Kenitra, marking a significant step to solidify Morocco’s position as a regional industrial hub in the automotive sector.

This project represents a strategic investment aligned with the Kingdom’s objective to enhance local production and attract high-value foreign investments.

The Prime Minister confirmed that this expansion would double the group’s production capacity, aiming for a local integration rate of 75% by 2030. He considered this initiative part of an ambitious industrial policy led by Morocco, noting that the total investment amounts to €1.2 billion, with €702 million allocated for local suppliers.

Akhannouch emphasized that this project strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a leading African platform in the automotive sector, with annual production capacity expected to reach one million vehicles by the end of the decade. He stressed that this industrial dynamism serves as a true launching pad for sustainable transport, electric vehicles, and modern, integrated supply chains.

The Prime Minister pointed out the project’s important social dimension, as it is expected to create around 3,100 direct jobs for young people in the Gharb region, in line with the national employment roadmap priorities.

He highlighted that the partnership between Morocco and Stellantis began in 2015 under the effective presidency of King Mohammed VI, resulting in the signing of an agreement to establish the first industrial unit, which was inaugurated in 2019. This has developed into an effective industrial fabric reflecting Morocco’s commitment to enhancing its position in the global automotive market.
