A commercial court employee in Casablanca has been sentenced to five years in prison for leaking images of judicial officials to Hicham Gérandou, the main suspect in cases of blackmail and defamation on social media.
The National Judicial Police arrested the employee on June 4, 2025, in the act. Technical investigations on his phone revealed direct communication with Gérandou and the sharing of images of Abderrahman Safouri, the president of the commercial court of appeal, deputy prosecutor Jamal Harour, and the chief clerk of the court.
Investigations confirmed that the employee was not a victim of coercion or exploitation; he explicitly admitted to acting out of revenge, indicating a clear criminal intent that threatens the integrity of justice.
The public prosecutor pursued several charges against him, the most notable of which include:
– Incitement to commit misdemeanors and felonies via electronic means
– Contributing to the dissemination of images without the owners’ consent
– Defamation and publishing false allegations affecting private life
– Insulting judicial officials and public servants
– Extortion and threats for financial gain
– Insulting legally organized bodies
This ruling is part of the effort to dismantle the defamation and extortion network led by Hicham Gérandou, which includes elements from institutions that are supposed to protect professional secrecy.
The case underscores that justice will not tolerate any betrayal of trust within its institutions and that the law will target anyone who contributes to undermining the dignity of the judiciary or colludes with those who seek to tarnish the country’s reputation from behind screens.
