The National Agency for Water and Forests has announced that starting Monday, June 16, 2025, and continuing until Friday, June 20, it will issue daily predictive maps to identify areas most at risk of forest fires as part of a proactive strategy to address this phenomenon.

The maps will be based on precise scientific analysis, which takes into account the type of forest cover and its flammability, alongside weather forecasts and the topographical conditions of the affected areas.

Regions have been classified into three levels of risk, with a maximum threat recorded in the regions of Azilal, Béni Mellal, Chefchaouen, Kenitra, Khémisset, Larache, Tangier-Assilah, Taza, and Taounate. The regions classified as at high risk include Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane, Al Hoceima, Berkane, Fahs-Anjra, Ifrane, Khenifra, Mdiq-Fnideq, Nador, Ouazzane, Oujda-Angad, Skhirat-Temara, Taourirt, Taroudant, and Tetouan. A medium risk has been noted in the regions of Essaouira, Rabat, Salé, Sefrou, and Sidi Slimane.

The agency has urged residents near forest areas, as well as visitors and vacationers, to exercise caution and avoid any activities that could ignite a fire, emphasizing the need to report to local authorities immediately if they observe any smoke or suspicious behavior.
