The government council, chaired by Aziz Akhannouch, will convene next Thursday to discuss a number of bills, agreements, and high-level appointment proposals.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office noted that the council will begin its proceedings by studying two legal projects: the first concerning the reorganization of the National Press Council, while the second pertains to amending the law related to the professional journalists’ status.

In the economic sphere, the council is expected to discuss a draft decree aimed at defining the maximum amount for small loans and the ceilings for funds allocated by small financing institutions, as part of efforts to regulate this sector and enhance its role in financial integration.

Additionally, the council will review the host country agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the African Union Development Agency – New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD) regarding the establishment of the agency’s national office in Morocco. This agreement was signed in Rabat on January 16, 2025, alongside a draft law approving the agreement.

The agenda will conclude with a review of several high-level appointment proposals, in accordance with the provisions of Article 92 of the Constitution, as part of the ongoing restructuring of the administration and strengthening of competencies in leadership positions.
