The Court of First Instance in Casablanca has convicted journalist Lubna Filah, following her prosecution while in a state of freedom, based on a complaint concerning defamation, violation of private life, and false accusation.
The court imposed a fine of 10,000 dirhams, in addition to civil compensation to the plaintiff amounting to 440,000 dirhams.
The case erupted after a formal complaint filed by the director of auditing and management control at the National Radio and Television Company (SNRT), in which the journalist was accused of making baseless allegations that tarnished his professional and personal reputation.
The ruling has sparked mixed reactions within the media circles, accompanied by professional calls for the enforcement of the law against breaches that undermine the credibility of journalistic work.
