Tan-Tan Port Achieves a 180% Increase in Fishing Discharges Over Five Months

The Tan-Tan port has registered a significant increase in fish landings, reaching 39,739 tons by the end of May 2025, which represents a remarkable 180% rise compared to the same period last year, according to a regular report from the National Fisheries Office.

This volume of landings yielded a marketing value exceeding 485.40 million dirhams, reflecting a 63% growth from 298.43 million dirhams the previous year. This surge is primarily attributed to a notable increase in landings of pelagic fish, which soared by 334% to reach 30,245 tons, valued at 116.36 million dirhams, compared to only 6,966 tons during the same period in 2024.

Moreover, landings of white fish also saw a significant increase of 30%, totaling 6,283 tons, with a value surpassing 137.07 million dirhams, compared to 4,849 tons valued at 100.34 million dirhams in the previous year. Mollusks experienced a rise of 38% as well, reaching 3,116 tons, generating revenues of 225.09 million dirhams, which is a 45% increase.

Conversely, crustaceans recorded a decline of 16% in quantity, totaling 94 tons, and a 41% drop in value to 6.86 million dirhams.

On a national level, the total volume of coastal and traditional fish products marketed by the end of May reached 321,520 tons, marking an 18% decrease. Meanwhile, the overall value of these products amounted to 4.42 billion dirhams, reflecting a slight increase of 1% compared to the same period last year.
