Gunfire at Utah Festival Leaves Three Dead, Including Infant
A tragic shooting occurred at the “West Fest” festival in Centennial Park, West Valley City, Utah, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including an eight-month-old infant.
According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday night after a fight broke out between two groups at the festival. When officers intervened to disperse the altercation, a 16-year-old male pulled out a gun and opened fire. One of the police officers returned fire, but none of his shots hit anyone.
Authorities stated that the gunfire claimed the life of a 41-year-old woman who was a bystander, in addition to the infant. An 18-year-old male, who was part of one of the rival groups, also succumbed to gunshot wounds.
The incident also left two teenagers injured: a 17-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, both shot in the arms. It remains unclear whether they were connected to the two groups involved, and their health status has not yet been reported.
The police confirmed the arrest of the teenage shooter, but have not released his identity at this time.
It is noteworthy that West Valley City, home to approximately 134,000 residents, is a suburb of Salt Lake City.
