Lahcen Saadi, the Secretary of State for Crafts, announced the launch of consultations to update the ten-year strategy for the social and solidarity economy during the opening of the fifth national symposium held today, Tuesday, at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Ben Guerir. He emphasized that the time has come to establish a legal framework that enables the sector to develop, pointing out that Morocco, as a leader in the field, cannot lag behind, especially with the legislative progress made by other countries.

Saadi called for utilizing the discussions and workshops scheduled to formulate a new vision that meets the aspirations of stakeholders and bolsters Morocco’s leading position in the social and solidarity economy. He recalled the royal patronage of the symposium, which reflects, in his words, the special attention that King Mohammed VI gives to this vital sector and to its workers, including administrators, elected officials, and professionals.

He revealed the signing of more than 15 agreements to support the sector’s development within the framework of achieving regional development goals and creating job opportunities and wealth, clarifying that the government is working to foster the alignment of public policies to support the social and solidarity economy.

He highlighted the participation of over 1,000 attendees from various regions of the kingdom, along with delegations from 21 friendly countries, in addition to more than 100 experts facilitating workshops and seminars, considering this attendance reflects Morocco’s status in the international social economy system.

He praised the efforts of various partners and national and international institutions, particularly the French Development Agency, in supporting the preparation of the legal framework and enhancing the establishment of model regional hubs.

In closing, he underscored the crucial role of regional authorities and the heads of regional chambers of crafts in ensuring the success of government programs, commending the dynamic nature of regions in adopting social and solidarity economy projects as a real lever for development.
