The Spanish club Real Madrid is close to signing rising Moroccan talent Abdullah Wazan after he informed his current club, Ajax Amsterdam, that he does not intend to stay in the Netherlands.

The "ESPN" network reported in its Dutch edition: "Real Madrid is set to snatch the promising Wazan from Ajax. Despite Ajax’s serious attempts to retain the 16-year-old midfielder, Wazan has decided to join Real Madrid."

Given his talent, Ajax promoted Wazan to play with the under-17 team last season. He has been with the club’s academy since he was seven years old, and they have been negotiating with him since September to sign his first professional contract. However, the player turned down three offers, and he will leave the team for free, as he will become a free agent on June 30, according to the Spanish newspaper "AS."

"ESPN" clarified that negotiations between Ajax and Wazan were progressing well, but Real Madrid’s interest changed everything, and the Moroccan star now wants to move to Spain. Notably, the Royal Club had been monitoring Wazan and was impressed by his performances in the African U-17 Cup of Nations, which Morocco won last April. Real Madrid will only need to cover Ajax’s training costs, making it a significant blow for the Dutch club.

Real Madrid proposed to Wazan that he join the club’s academy, alongside the under-19 team, with hopes of quickly promoting him to the reserve team "Castilla," taking into account his immense potential, which could expedite his development.
