Qatar Enters the Race to Host the 2029 Club World Cup

Qatar has begun its official moves to bid for the upcoming Club World Cup set to take place in 2029, as confirmed by the British newspaper "The Guardian." The Qatari capital has opened high-level consultation channels with officials from FIFA during the current edition being held in the United States.

Despite Qatar’s enthusiasm to host this major football event, weather-related challenges pose a significant obstacle. The high summer temperatures may necessitate rescheduling the tournament to winter, similar to what was done during the 2022 World Cup.

Qatar’s bid is supported by the advanced infrastructure developed in recent years, particularly the proximity of stadiums to training centers, creating ideal conditions for teams. This is in stark contrast to the current situation faced by teams participating in the tournament in the U.S., which involves exhausting travel between cities and the impacts of adverse weather, as storms have caused several matches to be delayed by over two hours.

Qatar is competing against three other countries interested in hosting the 2029 Club World Cup: Morocco and Spain, which are working jointly on preparations for the 2030 World Cup, along with Brazil. The competition is expected to intensify in the coming months as each country aims to confirm its organizational readiness and secure support from FIFA and its partners.
