Morocco and Turkey Agree on a Plan to Enhance Trade Exchanges and Achieve Balance in Economic Partnership
On Monday, the sixth session of the Joint Committee monitoring the implementation of the free trade agreement between Morocco and Turkey was held in Ankara, chaired by State Secretary for Foreign Trade Omar Hajji and Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu. The meeting aimed to assess the outcomes of the agreement and work towards developing a balanced economic partnership between the two countries.
This meeting falls under the Kingdom’s foreign trade program for the period 2025-2027, where both sides discussed ways to increase Moroccan exports to the Turkish market and address the registered trade deficit, emphasizing the need to share economic benefits based on a “win-win” principle.
The officials directed senior staff in the trade ministries of both countries to activate a technical committee that began studying the current status of exchanges and proposed practical measures to enhance bilateral cooperation. This included organizing a joint business forum over the next year and launching mechanisms for joint investment promotion, as well as coordinating direct meetings between businessmen (B2B).
Both sides agreed to strengthen industrial integration, particularly in the textile sector, through joint production projects aimed at exports. They also discussed facilitating access for Moroccan agricultural products to the Turkish market and developing cooperation in the fields of services and infrastructure.
