Khalid Khalibi, the first deputy of the Ain Sebaa district, stated that the demolition of “Douar Bouih,” one of the oldest slums in Casablanca, marks a historic event and a significant turning point in urban development within the district. It embodies the state’s commitment to improving living conditions for citizens under the royal initiative to eradicate substandard housing.
Khalibi explained that “Douar Bouih,” which was part of the historical memory of the Ain Sebaa region, experienced long years of challenges and resilience, thanks to residents who demonstrated a strong spirit of solidarity and determination to achieve a better future for coming generations. He emphasized that the demolition is not merely about removing shanties but represents a symbolic step towards ending a long-standing social hardship and the beginning of a new phase of dignified living.
He commended the efforts of the Ain Sebaa-Hay Mohammadi provincial administration, led by the provincial official, along with all teams involved in executing the operation. He affirmed that this initiative reflects local authorities’ commitment to creating an urban space suitable for all citizens.
Khalibi called on various local stakeholders to support this transitional phase and provide adequate assistance to the families affected, especially after their relocation to suitable housing in Moulay Rachid. He stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure the success of this developmental project and to build a modern city that meets the residents’ aspirations while preserving cultural identity and enhancing values of solidarity and spatial justice.
