Israeli forces assassinate the second Iranian Chief of Staff within a week
The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that it had carried out a targeted operation resulting in the assassination of Iran’s Chief of Staff, Major General Ali Shadmani, in a precise airstrike on a populated location in the heart of Tehran, based on accurate intelligence, according to media sources.
Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson Avichai Adraee confirmed that “the military has eliminated for the second time the Chief of Staff of the Iranian military and the highest-ranking military commander in the Iranian regime, Ali Shadmani,” asserting that this operation represents “a strong strategic blow to the Iranian military structure.”
Major General Shadmani was considered one of the foremost leaders close to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. He had only been appointed to his new position four days prior, succeeding General Gholam Ali Rashid, who was also killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Iranian capital last Friday.
Previously, Shadmani led the “Khatam al-Anbia” central command and served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. He is known as one of the key strategists behind Iran’s military plans, both defensive and offensive.
This operation is part of a broader escalation led by Israel against Iranian military and scientific leaders, with recent attacks also targeting Revolutionary Guard leader Hossein Salami and Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri, in addition to two senior nuclear scientists.
