Iraq Dismantles 62 Human Trafficking Networks and 9 for Organ Trafficking
The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday the dismantling of 62 sexual exploitation networks and nine others involved in organ trafficking since the beginning of the year.
Lieutenant Colonel Abbas al-Bahadili, the spokesperson for the ministry, stated in a post on the ministry’s Facebook page today that the fight against human trafficking within the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency successfully dismantled these networks during the first half of the current year.
Al-Bahadili noted that 15 additional networks involved in forced labor were dismantled, along with four networks for child trafficking and six others for begging. He also highlighted the arrest of 82 individuals charged with witchcraft and sorcery.
