International Ranking: Life Expectancy in Morocco Reaches 76 Years
Morocco ranked 119th in the life expectancy classification published by the "Voronoi" platform, which specializes in rankings and analytics. The average life expectancy in Morocco is 76 years, considered a key indicator of the general health status, nutrition, and lifestyle in any country.
The aforementioned platform noted that the life expectancy in many African countries is below 60 years, which is twenty years less than the average recorded in Western European countries, exceeding 80 years. It highlighted that some regions in the continent face difficult living conditions that affect this average, such as malnutrition, lack of sanitation, and prevalent violence.
The same source mentioned, "The largest discrepancies in life expectancy between Africans and residents of high-income areas occur in the age groups under five and over sixty, due to the distinct healthcare needs of infants and the elderly." However, it pointed out that "such care does not necessarily have to be expensive; access to basic antibiotics can prevent many early deaths, contributing to an increased life expectancy."
According to the ranking results, Monaco topped the list of geographical areas worldwide where people live the longest, with an average life expectancy of 87 years, followed by San Marino and Hong Kong at 86 years each, and other Asian countries like Japan and South Korea, where citizens can live up to 85 years.
Conversely, African countries ranked at the bottom of the classification, with average life expectancies in places like the Central African Republic, South Sudan, and Lesotho at 58 years; while Nigeria and Chad did not exceed this average, recording life expectancies of just 55 years, which placed them at the bottom of this classification prepared by the "Voronoi" platform based on World Health Organization data.
In North Africa, life expectancy is 72 years in Egypt, 73 in Libya, and 77 in Algeria, while it does not exceed 63 years among Mauritanians. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar lead among Arab League member states, with their citizens living longer, boasting an average life expectancy of 83 years.
